The events of March
2018 when Sergei Viktorovich Skripal and his daughter Yulia were
poisoned with a deadly nerve agent by the name of Novichok were very
frightening for the residents of Salisbury in Wiltshire, England. On
4th March 2018 Sergei and his daughter were found
unconscious on a park bench. Yulia was apparently foaming at the
mouth. Both were taken to Salisbury District Hospital and the
following morning a major incident was declared. Detective Sergeant
Nick Bailey also fell seriously ill after having inspected the
Skripal's home wearing a forensic suit.
Movements of those
infected were traced and businesses and homes were quarantined. On
6th March, Counter Terrorism Command of the Metropolitan
Police took over the investigation from Wiltshire Police. 180
military experts in chemical warfare defence and decontamination, as
well as 18 vehicles, were deployed to assist in removing vehicles and
objects from the scene and look for any further traces of the nerve
agent.
The Skripals and DS
Bailey recovered but Dawn Sturgess, who was innocently given a gift
of some perfume found in a rubbish bin in Salisbury, died on 8th
July. The discarded perfume bottle was discovered to contain the
Novichok nerve agent used in the attempted murder of the Skripals.
The bottle apparently contained enough of the nerve agent to
potentially kill thousands of people.
Extensive
decontamination, deep cleaning etc., were undertaken and it wasn't
until 22nd February 2019, that it was announced that the last of the
12 sites that had finally been judged safe. All emergency and
military personnel were praised for their outstanding response to
such a major incident.
Quite early on in the
investigation it was intimated Russia was responsible and as more
evidence was gathered including the identity of two alleged Russian
agents, the UK Government had made up it's mind who was responsible.
Many retaliatory measures were taken including the expulsion of 23
Russian diplomats. However, are we really expected to believe the
Russian Secret Service were involved in such a cack handed operation,
involving for instance, the hospitalisation of the victims so tests
would be done. With Russia's expertise in clandestine operations over
many decades, surely if they wanted Mr.Skripal dead he would have had
a 'simple heart attack' with absolutely no trace of foul play. The
way this operation was carried out, left so much evidence pointing to
Russia that it seems more likely to have been a plot to discredit
Russia either from opposition within Russia itself or perhaps certain
agencies elsewhere. Indeed it does seem to have all the hallmarks of
a commonly occurring US agency cock up. Maybe they were testing
something before making another cock up in Wuhan to try and bring
down the Chinese economy, only shooting themselves and the rest of
the World in the foot in the process.
Such is the verbal
diarrhoea coming out of, for example, no.10 Downing Street and The
White House, one thing is certain in this age of instant news, we,
the people, are lied to so much more, every single day. So many real
truths are never revealed, it has become sickening to the point, some
of us are saying, almost daily, 'you just couldn't make this stuff
up'!
